Mark Goldberg Music!!

Mark Goldberg has been playing guitar, keys, and performing for some time now. Some of my credits include a stint in the El Camino College Jazz Band in which they played a festival in the town of Fullerton. He played in several bands in the Los Angeles area before returning to his hometown of Seattle. He has since played on albums by Jason Trachtenburg, Steve Caustrita, and Richard DeCuir and worked with Roger Fisher from Heart and Chris Ballew from the Presidents.
He has also been involved with Tim Noah and the Thumbnail Theater and was in several productions that were put on there. He put out an album in 2001 of classical guitar music called "Landscapes" and have put together several albums of original pop-rock material. "Viewpoints," "Self Reliance," and "Looking For Distractions," among others are all available online for purchase. He recently released "Superstars," an ambitious two CD set which has many styles on it. Mark currently also plays out with Jon Newmark frequently in Mark And Jon's Music Shop. More songs and albums are coming.

Mark’s main influences are chiefly centered in the 60's to 80's era namely Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Elton John, Pat Metheny, Genesis and Rush.

Monica Nevi: COMEDY!!

Born and raised in Renton, Monica grew up in a family that treated humor like a second language. After a basketball injury at Seattle University, she did what any sidelined athlete with impeccable timing would do—she became a stand-up comic. Since then, she’s been absolutely crushing it on stages across the country, on TV, and in her acclaimed comedy special Big Stepdad Energy, which landed on We Own The Laughs magazine’s Top 50 Specials of the Year list.

This is your chance to catch Monica live, where she’s at her hilarious best—telling stories, dropping punchlines, and making you laugh so hard you forget how weird the world is.

“Through her accessible songwriting, clear and controlled vocals, and her willingness to put in the hours of work necessary, the future is exciting for Sedona. The A.I. Monologues: w/ James Whittaker

The A.I. Monologues: w/ James Whittaker

It has become fashionable to preach a dystopian AI future while simultaneously living in a human-induced dystopian present. We humans have trashed our environment, poisoned our political discourse, normalized obscene wealth and extreme poverty, raised taxes to historic levels and created the least happy generation of children on record. We have no business lecturing imaginary robots.

Our best hope at reversing our present dystopia is AI (and, yes, I have an attainable solution for eliminating taxes and resolving IP theft in one fell swoop, worth the price of admission alone). Indeed, the only dystopian future I see is one where western democracies lose the AI race to bad actors and asshat autocracies. Winning the AI race is our only hope at reversing otherwise irreversible human catastrophe. We need to invest like a mo-fo.

You’ll:

  • Hear the origin story of machine intelligence (*this* is a story for the ages)

  • Understand how machine “brains” work (don't care if you are mathy or not)

  • Envision a world where we no longer live to work and work to live (this is going to require some preparation folks)

  • Learn how wealth will be generated and governments will be funded in a post-work, post-tax world (this is the fun part)

  • Walk out of this talk with optimism for the future and a buzz from the beer

Abby Karp: Live Music!!

Abby Karp turned her passion into a vocation writing four beautiful albums, infused with a unique blend of folk, pop, country, and rock.  After releasing her debut album, Bare Your Soul in 2014, and follow-up Heart Shaped Rock in 2016, Abby released The Whole Truth in 2019 shortly before the world came to a screeching pause. Between 2020 and the present, the pandemic presented Abby with some “found” time to reflect on the relationship between all of her worlds on her latest album, Where We’re At, in 2023.

She conveniently short-hands her music as
"Heart-Rock". Her melodies are instantly hummable and imminently memorable, and her stories will hit you smack dab in the heart.

Justin Kausal-Hayes

Growing up in a musical family, Justin Kausal-Hayes began playing guitar at age 9. After taking briefly lessons and learning a few chords,  he was off an running! Early influencers were American folk music icons Crosby Stills and Nash, Jimi Hendricks, then later Stevie Ray Vaughn and Pearl Jam. In his early 20s, Justin formed a band with some high school buddies. They called themselves “Author Unknown” and mostly played bluesy covers mixed with a few originals around the local Seattle scene. Years later, the band changed their name to “Buckets of Rain,” and focused on original material. You can read more about Justin’s current bands below.

Justin plays live 5 to 6 nights a week at various local establishments around Seattle and beyond. He is also available for private lessons in North Seattle 2 days a week.

Jaci’s sharp wit and physical comedy will leave you in stitches—figuratively, we promise. She’s been handpicked by none other than SNL’s Tim Meadows for his "Comedy Caucus" show, proving her humor is bipartisan brilliance. As a standout finalist in the prestigious Seattle International Comedy Competition, Jaci managed to place every single night, which is basically like winning the comedy Olympics (minus the medals, but plus a lot of laughs).

Her comedy cred doesn’t stop there. Jaci was a top finalist in Nate Jackson’s Funniest MF contest (and yes, she really is the funniest MF you’ll meet) and has crushed it at festivals like Treefort, Upper Left Comedy Fest, and NW Women’s Comedy Festival. Oh, and she also produces The Laughing Elk Comedy Show in Tacoma because she’s not just funny—she’s a multitasking queen.
